Creating and Using Humor

Learn how to create comedic characters, situations, and dialogue, and also when and why to deploy them to the greatest effect. We’ll discuss specific tools as well as look at how making your reader laugh can help to make them cry.

Eric Rampson has studied, performed, and taught improvisational and sketch comedy (The Second City, iO, The Playground Theater) for almost 20 years and has his MFA in Creative Writing from The MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. His short stories have been published in Change Seven Magazine, The Logan Square Literary Review, and Trembles. Eric is currently working on his first novel, Always Already
