Reading, Writing and the Value of Literary Criticism
Book reviews: What are their purpose in the era of Goodreads and social media? How do editors decide which books to review -- and who reviews them? What can writers gain from reading and writing reviews? Jennifer Day, the Chicago Tribune’s books editor, will discuss the evolving and essential role of literary criticism.
Jennifer Day is a longtime journalist and joined the Tribune in 2012 to launch Printers Row Journal, an innovative weekly book review. Jennifer studied as a 2015-16 Nieman Foundation for Journalism affiliate at Harvard University.
